Part A: Community NAS Prevention & Medication Safety Campaign for MRC Volunteers
Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome has risen 500% between 2012 and 2016 in Lincoln County. Lincoln County Health Department in collaboration with NACCHO, Medical Reserve Corps, and local partners created a toolkit to aid in the reduction of NAS and increase medication safety and maternal child health outcomes in Lincoln County Missouri.
Part B: Using the New Orleans Medical Reserve Corps to Teach Community Naloxone, CPR, and Stop the Bleed Courses
The New Orleans Health Department is utilizing the city's Medical Reserve Corps to teach community-level classes that build bystander response capabilities for opioid overdose, cardiac arrest, and life-threatening hemorrhage. This session will offer a look at the design and implementation of these programs across New Orleans's neighborhoods.
