Manufacturing and Bioprocessing
2019 PharmSci 360
3D printing is regarded as the most important upcoming innovation in pharmaceutical manufacture. Related technologies rapidly progress from prototyping to manufacturing scale in other types of industries, and the pharmaceutical industry can clearly benefit from this develeopment beyond personalized and low-volume decentralized manufacture. The presentation focusses on powder based technologies and their potential application in clinical studies as well as low volume market supply. Case studies highlight up- and downsides of the different fusion technologies (laser sintering, binder jetting) and aim to help broadening the pharmaceutical horizon for this still novel technology platform.
