2019 PharmSci 360
The ever-changing dynamics of pharma and biotech industry has led to a rapid growth and prominence of contract research organizations (CRO) and contract manufacturing organizations (CMO) to support research and development needs. The push towards outsourcing across the industry has resulted in numerous scientific and technical career opportunities and CRO/CMO are being considered as complementary partners. Predominantly, contract organizations could be considered a stepping stone for a scientist to understand the nuances of a career in the pharmaceutical industry and lay a strong foundation from which to build their career. On the contrary, contract organizations may also offer a lucrative platform for a mid-career level professional interested in a new challenge to build on their experience from either pharma industry, academia, or government. This interactive session is specifically aimed at enlightening the participants with various aspects of working at a contract organization, how to seek such opportunities, and how and what you may gain in your career. Brief talks will be followed by a panel discussion and audience participation is highly encouraged.
