Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common adverse side effect of cancer chemotherapy that can be dose-limiting, life debilitating, and cause extreme pain. This presentation features a proof of concept study utilizing neural networks to identify key molecular properties associated with a risk of CIPN. Quantitative structure-toxicity relationships were developed, and new hypotheses of mechanisms of drug action were generated. In addition, an expanded framework to examine the role of dose in such relationships will be presented. Molecular and systems level networks are showing utility in predicting and understanding adverse drug effects such as CIPN.
