NDA Mission Statement-The National Dental Association (NDA) promotes oral health equity among people of color by harnessing the collective power of its members, advocating for the needs of and mentoring dental students of color, and raising the profile of the profession in our communities.
NDA-HEALTH NOW® is the signature program of the National Dental Association (Health equity. Access. Literacy. Technology and Hope. National Outreach on Wheels). It is grassroots, community-based and community- driven project that relies on a vast network of community partners and collaborations. NDA-HN provides resources and services to underserved communities and works to: 1) increase health care access; 2) eliminate disparities; 3) increase health literacy; and 4) promote prevention. NDA-HN also features and promotes the interests of inter-professional health teams. In 2016, NDA-HN won an award from the American Society of Association Executives. Since its inception, the project has supported and/or implemented 109 programs in 15 cities and 7 countries. Cities in which NDA-HN has had the greatest impact are: Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans, New York, San Francisco/Oakland and Atlanta. Education modules include presentations for children, adults and seniors. The project also has an oral health community-based learning program from nurses; and age STEM activities designed by dental students for K thru 12. The results include nearly 50,000 direct beneficiaries including children and adults and more than one million mass media and social media exposures.
