Kaitlyn Emerson

Coordinator
University of Wyoming International Programs

I recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in Spanish from the University of Wyoming and was hired as an Education Abroad Coordinator through the University of Wyoming's Education Abroad Office. During my undergraduate career I studied abroad for a semester in Salamanca, Spain through AIFS. This study abroad opportunity lead me to find opportunities in working within the field of international education. In my search, I became an AIFS Alumni Ambassador -- a role in which I served for two years. Additionally, I worked at the University of Wyoming's Education Abroad Office as a student worker where I pre-advised students on education abroad programs at the University of Wyoming, attended the 2019 Forum on Education Abroad, ran our office's social media page, managed our UWYO Abroad Ambassadors, and served as a leader to the other student workers within the office. Additionally, I was the first point of contact for anybody who walked through our doors or called our office. From there, I applied for the open Education Abroad Coordinator position (as I had plans to graduate soon) and was offered the position in May 2019.
In addition to studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain, I also completed a summer internship teaching English in Quito, Ecuador through Kaya Responsible Travel. I have participated in two very different programs to further broaden my horizon and knowledge on education abroad. I know that these valuable experiences will allow me to contribute to the growing and dynamic field of international education.
