This session will present how U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of State EducationUSA can help U.S. educational institutions recruit students worldwide as well as assist to identify high potential markets for international student recruitment.  Speakers will brief attendees on these agencies' numerous programs, on-going collaboration and updates. These updates include the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Education Initiative and U.S. Department of State's Initiative to Support Greater American College and University International Recruitment.

Susana Guzman

Susana Guzman serves as an EducationUSA Program Officer in the Academic Programs Division of the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. She completed her undergraduate degree at Florida International University and Miami Dade College in 2016. Her current portfolio includes coordinating funding for EducationUSA advising centers worldwide. She previously worked in the Fulbright Program handling emergency on-program support cases and supporting programming in Europe and Eurasia. Susana seeks to further U.S. foreign policy objectives and build mutual understanding through cultural exchanges.

Jim Paul

Director, Boston Office
U.S. Department of Commerce

Jim Paul is Director of the Boston Office at the U.S. Department of Commerce. He coordinates this agency's activities in assisting Massachusetts educational institutions with their international student recruitment activities. As former Education Team Leader for this agency, he organized worldwide assistance to educational institutions and intensive English programs. Mr. Paul graduated with a BA in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from University of California, Berkeley. He later received a Master of Business Administration in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Mr. Paul also earned an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership from MIT Sloan School of Management.
