This panel presentation will discuss the challenges associated with the assessment of exchange visitor English proficiency, and will outline various convenient, consistent, and effective options (in-house and third-party) from the perspectives of the panelists. It will also include data from a recent survey assessment of 120 universities across the country regarding English assessment and practices for Exchange Visitors. Examples will be shared of institutions who have moved away from the personal/department interview for their scholars and will discuss challenges and benefits with this transition. I first gained my love for international education while working in Guatemala and Mexico. My love for building relationships with individuals the world over has grown every year since.

As a student, I completed a study abroad in Europe and Latin America. My family has been a host family multiple times. My father was a superintendent and four siblings and my wife are teachers. Pursuing a career in international education only made sense. I love what I do!
