This interactive session, sponsored by the National Association of County and City Health Officials Workforce Development Committee, will introduce participants to a newly developed set of competencies designed to assist individuals in becoming proficient Chief Health Strategists in their community.
Attendees will review the new competency set and a new self-assessment tool designed to gauge capacity in the department to function as a proficient Chief Health Strategist, hear the experience and perspectives of two local health departments and the action steps both departments are taking to becoming effective Chief Health Strategists within their public health jurisdictions, and will participate at an interactive sharing session on how attendees have developed skills, tools, and methodologies to function as Chief Health Strategists. Attendees will be hearing experiences from both a large, urban city health department and a medium, multi-county health department that serves primarily rural areas.
This session will help position local public health professionals to assume the role of Chief Health Strategist in their community.
