Can a community plagued with high adverse childhood experience (ACE) scores learn to build resilience to better future health outcomes?
Learn how the Crater Health District is engaging churches, community organizations, and several local business striving to build community resilience.
Trauma and adversity affect us all. Whether we experience trauma first-hand, or know of someone who has, childhood adversity and trauma continue to exist. In “Moving Beyond ACEs to Build Community Resilience,” audience members will explore the needs of a child that is experiencing trauma. They will learn the common language of ACEs and take a self-test to find their ACEs score. Participants will also learn the effects of stress and re-traumatization. Together, audience members will explore how to build community resilience through a four-step process that involves businesses, government, and the public at large. Once this process is learned it can be adopted to various scenarios and help formulate future policy with communities.
