Emerging Trends in Public Health
Sharing Session - 60 Minutes
This session will focus on the local development of a framework and evaluation for health equity, focusing on a dynamic power shift to community members most impacted by health inequities and most served by public health programs. The Healthy Larimer Committee in Larimer County, a group made up of representatives of the most under-resourced populations, developed its own equity protocol, evaluation matrix, and roles and responsibilities for community partners to allow this committee and their communities to take a leading role in ensuring equity in the implementation of programs, strategies, and activities in Larimer County.
The process developed not only ensures that community members are evaluating these programs and are able to provide recommendations based on lived experience but also that programs are strictly accountable to these community members to implement changes based on recommendations and report back on successes and failures to this Committee. This Committee is the governing body for the Community Health Improvement Plan and can serve in an advisory capacity to community partners and the health department.
