Reproductive Health Program Manager
Detroit Health Department
In 2018, the Detroit Health Department launched a citywide initiative entitled iDecide Detroit, aimed at reducing the teen pregnancy rate in Detroit. This session will detail how community involvement shaped the strategy for this program and how the Detroit Health Department emphasized youth voice throughout the implementation of the initiative. Furthermore, the Detroit Health Department created a data-driven network of high quality, adolescent friendly reproductive health providers across the city, and uniquely addressed access barriers through providing free transportation, expanding afterhours care, and providing care for underinsured and uninsured patients. This session will discuss the innovation in our initiative and the early successes and challenges.
