"Frequent Utilizers,” sometimes known as “Super-Utilizers” or “Familiar Faces,” is a term for individuals with mental or chemical health needs who cycle through the criminal justice and other systems, often at significant expense, and with no clear resolution in sight. Stearns County has partnered with the local health care system, CentraCare Health, and the City of St. Cloud Police Department to implement an initiative to identify these individuals and improve system response. This initiative takes partnerships between private and public entities to make change happen and is generating system changes. With the local health care system implementing a Correctional Care program, Central MN is establishing new ways of doing business in the jail, in the community, and in government. Attend this session to learn how Stearns County, St. Cloud Police Department, and CentraCare Health are responding to these hard to reach and serve populations inside the jail and in the community.
