This interactive workshop will build skills in identifying, analyzing, and resolving ethical concerns that arise in public health practice and will discuss how local health departments can build ethics capacity using lessons learned from local health departments’ efforts to establish ethics committees. Information will also be shared from a survey about how state and local health departments are currently addressing ethics issues. Case studies will be used to highlight ethical considerations relating to public health practice and to illustrate the ethical analysis process. Information presented in this workshop will be relevant to health officials seeking to demonstrate ethics capacity as part of the health department accreditation process.
