National Association of County and City Health Officials
National Association of County and City Health Officials’s (NACCHO) Roadmap to a Culture of Quality (the Roadmap) is a framework for progressing through six phases of QI maturity which crystalizes for health departments what it means to have a culture of quality and, based on current QI maturity, provides targeted strategies for integrating QI practices into the fabric of the agency’s daily operations.
Based on the Roadmap, NACCHO recently released Version 2.0 of the Organizational Culture of Quality Self-Assessment Tool (QI SAT). It provides an objective assessment of QI maturity and is designed to systematically take health departments from informal or static process improvements to a sustained culture of continuous improvement and innovation through a comprehensive approach that emphasizes understanding community needs, managing change to empower staff, supporting effective teams, and making data driven decisions.
Denver Public Health will discuss their experiences with implementing the Roadmap and QI SAT across the health department to gain an understanding of QI maturity and perceptions across all staff. Results were used to operationalize a targeted action plan to increase the efficiency of processes and enhance the quality of public health programs and services delivered to the community. Presenters will facilitate dialogue to understand the audience’s challenges around QI and offer lessons learned from their personal experiences.
