The Anne Arundel County (AAC) Fatal Overdose Review Team (FORT) was established on Nov. 6, 2014, in response to Md. Health-General Code Ann.ยง5-901 (2014) to study overdose deaths for the purpose of preventing future deaths. Cases provided to the Anne Arundel County Department of Health by the State Behavioral Health Administration of the Maryland Department of Health (MDOH) include all intoxication deaths listed as accidental or undetermined from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. These cases are reviewed by a team of County agency representatives using agency system data. The workshop will cover how to start a FORT team, how to run a meeting, data collection, and reporting and recommendations implementation.
