The Zika response during early 2016 to 2018 illustrated the patchwork of vector workforce capacities at the state and local level. This presentation will go over lessons learned and stories from the field during the Zika response time period obtained during technical monitoring calls with state and county partners. We will address capacities in epidemiological investigation and response, laboratory activities, and mosquito surveillance and control as obtained from monitoring calls with jurisdictions funded through the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity cooperative agreement. We will explore the levels of relationships at the state, local, and municipality level and will obtain a better understanding of the priorities and needs of each entity when it comes to preventing and combatting vector-borne diseases.
