John Ramirez is the Director of the Environmental Health Bureau (EHB) of the Monterey County Health Department. The EHB is comprised of six distinct Environmental Health Services : Consumer Health Protection; Environmental Health Review; Drinking Water, Solid Waste; Hazardous Materials Management and Recycling. John holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organic Chemistry and Biology from the University of Oregon and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. He is a State of California Registered Environmental Health Specialist (EHS) and is a State of California Certified Hazardous Materials Specialist. He is also a 2007 graduate fellow of the U.S. Center of Disease Control (CDC) Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute (EPHLI). During his 30 year career with Monterey County he has held several positions within the Environmental Health Bureau including supervisor of the Hazardous Materials Management Services program from 1998 to 2005 and Assistant Director of Environmental Health from 2005 to 2010 and is currently the Director of the Environmental Health Bureau.
