Director of Public Health
Broome County Health Department, NY
Rebecca Kaufman is the Director of Public Health for Broome County, New York. In this role she oversees all facets of the local health department including overseeing a 19 million dollar budget and over 40 programs to ensure the health of the public. She received her Masters of Science in Community Health from State University of New York College at Cortland. She started her career at Lourdes Youth Services as a Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist. Next, she joined the Tioga County Health Department where she worked five and a half years in a variety of roles ending as the Deputy Director of Public Health. As part of her role in Broome County, she serves as the Broome Opioid Awareness Council (BOAC) Coordinator. Growing up in Upstate New York, Rebecca has seen this opioid epidemic affect her family, friends and classmates. She feels we need to come together as a community in all sectors to truly save lives. Rebecca was born and raised in Endwell, NY where she still lives with her family today.
