Westfield Regional Health Department
Megan Avallone, MS, RN, is the Director of the Westfield Regional Health Department, a local health agency providing public health services to eight communities in New Jersey, with a population of 110,000. Ms. Avallone became the first female to hold the position when she was appointed in 2008. Prior to this appointment, Megan was a public health nurse and began her career as an obstetrical nurse.
Megan obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Microbiology from Wagner College. She is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and an Environmental Health Specialist.
Megan is actively involved in state, local and national health associations. She is currently serving as the President of the New Jersey Association of County and City Health Officials, and serves as a member of NACCHO’s Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Workgroup.
