United States Breastfeeding Committee
Kinkini Banerjee is the Coalition Relations Director of the United States Breastfeeding Committee (USBC). Actively involved in USBC's strategy development, she leads USBC's program evaluation efforts, and provides analysis of Federal policy and legislation, health reform, appropriations and human needs issues. She facilitates the design of USBC's capacity building support for its network of national member organizations, and state, local, tribal, and cultural coalitions, provided through four capacity building webinar series, the National Breastfeeding Conference and Convening, peer support and learning communities, and individualized Technical Assistance. To increase and enhance state and national level strategic collaborations in maternal and child health, Kinkini works closely with Public Health partner organizations in co-creating cross-sector networks that utilize systems thinking approaches to policy development and program design and management. A core component of her work is advancing USBC’s equity mission forward, and developing leadership equipped to strengthen community health and resilience.
Kinkini serves on advisory committees of a number of national initiatives, including Children's Healthy Weight Collaborative Improvement and Innovation Network, where she spearheads the Breastfeeding initiative. She is on the Expert Advisory committee of the National Coalition of National Action Partnership to Promote Safe Sleep Improvement and Innovation Network (NAPPSS-IIN) co-chairing one of the four National Action Teams. Kinkini is the USBC liaison working with a national coalition to advocate for evidence-based, culturally congruent dietary recommendations for the pregnancy and birth through 24 months groups in the 2020 edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
Kinkini is the Vice-President of the Board of Trustees of her home county’s health system (Alameda Health System). She is the Past-President of the board of Building Futures with Women and Children, a county agency providing Housing and Domestic Violence prevention and support services.
