Debra Waldron, MD, MPH, FAAP is the Senior Vice President, Healthy and Resilient Children, Youth, and Families at the American Academy of Pediatrics. She oversees policy development and programs that address the bio-psycho-social needs of children and their families. She previously was the Director of the Division of Services for Children with Special Health Needs in the Health Resources and Services Administration of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Waldron was Vice Chair of Child Health Policy and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Iowa and oversaw the statewide system of services for children with chronic conditions. She also serves on multiple US National committees and advisory boards on child and family health. Her areas of expertise are population health, family engagement, and integrated health systems.
She is a board-certified pediatrician and public health professional. Her MD was obtained at NY Medical College. Her MPH in Maternal and Child Health was obtained at University of Minnesota.
