Florida Department of Health in Brevard County
Maria Stahl, DNP, RN-Health Officer-Florida Department of Health in Brevard County.
I am a doctorally prepared RN and have worked in Public Health for 37 of 40 years of my nursing career. My nursing career started in 1979 when I received my BSN from State University of New York at Buffalo. From 1982-1994 I worked in New York at Erie County Health Department as Public Health Nurse doing both home visitation and school health. From 1994 through present I worked for the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County. I started as a Senior Community Health Nurse and advanced to Assistant Community Health Nursing Director and Executive Community Health Nursing Director to my current position as the Administrator and Health Officer. I furthered my education with completion of a MSN in Nursing Education from University of Central Florida and a DNP in Executive Nursing Leadership from University of Central Florida.
Through the years I have had extensive experience working with clients diagnosed with diabetes. In early years it was home visitation and assisting clients to manage their diagnosis and disease at home. Later it was working with clients in the clinical setting including those diagnosed with gestational diabetes. My DNP project was looking at clinical decision support using EHR in the clinic setting.
