Director - Clinical Microbiologist
Dr. Jose Alexander obtained his MD diploma from the Central University of Venezuela in 2006 and trained as Public Health Microbiologist with the Public Health Department in Venezuela with specialization in antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
Dr. Alexander emphasizes integrating microbiology process and clinical guidelines. His passion is to integrate molecular testing and susceptibility testing to the current challenges represented by multidrug resistant organisms.
Dr. Alexander is certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM) as Medical & Public Health Microbiologist; also, he is certified as Specialist in Microbiology and Molecular Biologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Dr. Alexander participates actively with American Society of Microbiology and encourages his team to be active on publication and research.
He currently is the Clinical & Technical Director of the Microbiology, Virology & Immunology laboratory at AdventHealth Orlando. He works directly with Infectious Diseases Physicians and Pharmacists integrating microbiological and clinical data for providing therapeutic opportunities to patients with multidrug resistant organisms. Dr. Alexander is an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Central Florida.
