Program Analyst, Health and Disability

Sara Lyons is the Program Analyst for NACCHO’s Health and Disability program. Sara oversees all health and disability program activities, including managing the annual fellowship program, technical assistance program, Health and Disability Workgroup, and all communication activities to promote disability inclusion among local health departments. Since October 2016, Sara has provided technical assistance to over 25 local health departments on disability inclusion, with expertise in connecting public health programs and services to community organizations that serve people with disabilities. Sara’s major accomplishments while at NACCHO include enhancing the fellowship program by creating a formal fellowship curriculum, finalizing the Health and Disability 101: Training for Health Department Staff, and completing a follow-up national assessment of the practices, awareness and inclusion of people with disabilities in local health departments’ public health practices.
Sara obtained her Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University at Albany School of Public Health and her Bachelor of Science from the University at Buffalo.
