Lead Public Health Education Specialist

Janet Y. Jones, MPH, CHES serves as the Lead Public Health Education Specialist for the City of Waco at the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District in Waco, TX. She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor's of Science degree majoring in Child & Family Studies (pre-med). She obtained her Masters in Public Health degree from Walden University and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). In her current role working for the City of Waco at the Health District, Janet supervises staff who manage programs focused on maternal & child health, obesity/chronic disease reduction, and access to healthcare through Community Health Workers. Through her work with the District, she has had the opportunity to create and implement many new programs including the community health worker initiative. Janet has experience educating communities, planning, implementing & evaluating programs, grant writing, building and facilitating coalitions, and uniting community stakeholders around an equity focused common goal. Additionally, Janet currently serves as Adjunct Faculty at Baylor University in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department teaching courses focused on Child Development and Child Health Outcomes. Her work with the City of Waco and Baylor University is in line with her passion for educating individuals and communities to improve health behaviors and overall quality of life.
