Public Health Nurse

Amanda Tuura is a Public Health Nurse at Kenosha County Division of Health. A graduate of Herzing University, her career began as a school nurse with movement into addiction nursing soon thereafter. Determined to reduce accidental toxicities in her community, she assisted in the development of policy and procedure to implement a comprehensive Medication Assisted Treatment program utilizing injectable Naltrexone and behavioral health counseling.
Amanda facilitates an Adult Death Review Team, in which, she has produced a toolkit that outlines implementation of the team, allowing other agencies to utilize and establish a similar resource in their communities. She has also assisted in the training and dissemination of Naloxone throughout Kenosha County, initiating training with local law enforcement agencies. Future goals include completion of her Master's in Public Health, implementation of a Safe Needle Exchange program at the health department in which she is currenlty employed and initiaition of a Community Mobile Health unit designated to provide services to Kenosha County residents.
