I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. my education ended with my career in the Medical School of Buenos Aires in 1967. In 1975 I spent one year as surgical resident of the University of Illinois in Chicago. The program gave me credit for my three year residency of Surgery in Buenoa Aires and I moved to the Cleveland Clinic as chief resident in Vascular Suirgery and I also completed three research projects, one of them was the initial experience of endografts to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections.
Back in Argentina, I continued my project to develop an endografts. Finally in 1990 I performed the first human application of my endograft which made a big impact in my medical practice. After complerting my fifth cas, I published my experience in the Annals of Vascular Surgery. Since them, I travelled all over the world teaching the new technique. Later on I founded Aptus after developing an endosuture and Arteria, the first company dedicated to Flow Reversal as a protection device for carotid stenting.
My wife is a sommelier and I have two children, my daughter Julieta is a brillant psychologist in Miami and my son a vascular surgeon working at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. I have six wonderful grandchildren and a pleasant life.
