As the legal landscape for connected products and devices becomes increasingly complex, security professionals are left in the dark trying to interpret how they will be impacted based on their role in the product lifecycle. Without proper support, it can be difficult to navigate the legal-speak and vague definitions that ultimately determine how to respond. Terms such as manufacturer, product and personal information may seem inconspicuous; however, with each new legislation, their scope morphs. Together, we will look at examples from current and proposed legislation with the aim of giving attendees tangible steps and questions to ask when working with product and legal teams in order to be better prepared to comply.
