To keep pace with rapid digitalization, organizations are increasingly turning to the internet of things (IoT) to enable innovative solutions. These organizations need to be mindful of evolving privacy regulations that affect how IoT systems can operate, collect and process data. This session will cover the expanding landscape of privacy regulation and how it applies to IoT ecosystems. We will first identify and dissect global drivers for data privacy such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. Then, we will discuss how organizations can proactively address common data privacy and security challenges to promote secure connected ecosystems. We will discuss use cases for addressing reasonable security for connected medical devices, cars and cities and the shifting security responsibility matrix for cloud service providers.
