State the overall Goal or Outcome : There are several major ongoing challenges in the organization of learning within simulation programs and centers. Challenges include the need to support both single and double-loop learning experiences, the need for robust faculty development, optimizing learner/participant involvement for learning, balancing center-based, In-situ, and “node”-based delivery, and organizing research and measuring value through QA/QI. The SimZones system and delivery tool helps to organize curriculum development and provides a solution to the stated challenges.
1. Participants will be able to describe how SimZones offer a system of matching learners to learning objectives and ultimately to optimized simulation-based learning programs.
2. Using their own real cases, participants will practice building personalized developmental maps to describe discrete learning audiences and developmental needs; then create learning objectives
3. Participants will practice using SimZones to guide development of a specific simulation course to meet their audience’s learning objectives
Intended Audience : This workshop is appropriate for any level--from those who lead simulation centers and programs through those who build and deliver single simulation courses.
Relevance to the Conference : This workshop, tested in multiple pediatric settings worldwide, describes a popular and growing approach to organizing the development and delivery of simulation-based learning. The subject is central to the interest of nearly all conference attendees.
