Respiratory Therapy Clinical Supervisor

Gretchen Thompson BAS, RRT-NPS is a respiratory therapy clinical supervisor at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) in St. Petersburg Florida. She has been a respiratory therapist for more than 30 years, and has been working in pediatrics at JHACH since 1995.
Gretchen has been involved with simulation education in a variety of forums. As the department representative for the Medical Emergency Committee, she is involved in providing education through team training and mock code scenarios; she also participates as a code team member. In addition, she is involved with simulation education for critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, and medical residents. Her most recent foray into simulation is with families of complex patients requiring tracheostomy, with or without a ventilator. By providing simulation as part of the family training, families are able to have real hands-on practice in handling emergent situations in a safe environment.
