Medical Simulation Technician

Andrew Drozd has been working in simulation for the past 7 1/2 years as a Medical Simulation Technician for the Patient Safety Institute (PSI) at Northwell Health. In that time Mr. Drozd has aquired both the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and the Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certifications through the Society for Simualtion in Healthcare (SSH). He is also a NYS certified Emergency Medical Technician along with a NYS credential Certified Lab Instructor where he is a skills instructor for EMT Basic classes. In the course of his time at PSI Mr. Drozd's responsibilities have rapidly grown expanding into creating of new course content including designing/implementing curriculum for simulation programs, maintaining the simulation technology, and helping the department to be innovative with the rest of the PSI team. His main focus in simulation over the last few years has been In-Situ simultuion where he manages many programs related to improving interprofessional teams thorughtout the Northwell Health system. Andrew is currently enrolled SUNY Empire State College and has completed his Associates Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and is currently completing his final semseter of his Bachelors degree in Healthcare Information Technology. In his time working for Northwell he has also trained within our process improvement department utilizing Six Sigma and LEAN methodologies which he has obtained his Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
