Erosion and Sediment Control
This poster will showcase research into Saturated Buffers (SBs), a conservation practice used to reduce nitrate export from agricultural fields. Background and mechanics of SBs will be covered in greater detail, for those who aren't already familiar with the practice. The research examines riparian bank stability at SB sites with GEOSTUDIO slope modeling, resulting in a probabilistic risk model indicating likelihood of slope failure. Results of the project will be SB design guidance and siting recommendations to increase practice adoption, while preventing erosive slope failures.
