Dr. Sifri is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia, where he serves as the Director of Hospital Epidemiology/Infection Prevention & Control and the Medical Director of the Immunocompromised Infectious Diseases Program. He is a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine, completed medicine residency training at the University of Pennsylvania, and was a clinical and research fellow in infectious diseases and microbiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham & Women's Hospital (Partner's Program) and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Sifri's research interests include exploration of the molecular epidemiology of multidrug resistant organisms, the contribution of horizontal gene transfer to the spread of resistance, and the prevention of healthcare-associated infections, especially in in compromised hosts.
