Our decisions define us. However, we rarely reflect on the process by which we make them. Science has taught us that this path is full of biases and idiosyncrasies. The objective of this session is to reveal this process with the aim of putting ourselves in control of our decisions. Mariano Sigman will use interactive experiments to show how group decisions may be a way to overcome biases in the decision making process. This will reveal a very simple principle that rational argumentation and discussions (even very short ones) in the right context, make the procedures by which we come out with choices explicit. And, in doing so, it provides an error correcting mechanism to revise and improve our decision making procedure.
