The paper explores the artists’ experimentation with the idea of ordinary mind through an appropriation of everyday objects with a focus on the contemporary practices of Southeast Asian artists. Mainly investigating two artists, Malaysian artist Andrew Pok (b. 1966) and Singapore artist Chen Sai Hua Kuan (b. 1976), the paper aims to contextualize in what contexts the everyday mindset offers inspiration for art practices with flexibility and creativity. In addition, how ordinary mind enhances artistic practices with more authenticity and meaning.
