College costs continue to rise and now sit at over $70,000 per year for many elite universities. As a result, our national student loan debt has grown from $240 billion in 2003 to over $1.5 trillion as of March 2019. For Gen X parents, paying for college is their number one financial concern. Yet, the topic of college funding and financial aid planning for clients has been largely ignored by the industry. In this session we empower financial planners by demystifying financial aid and teaching our innovative College Pre-Approval™ process that alleviates the stress & anxiety of paying for college.

• Project a family's financial aid and out of pocket cost at individual institutions.
• Create a family college budget using the one page college funding plan and ensure students graduate with manageable debt without robbing retirement.
• Understand the key differences in the federal and institutional formulas used to determine a family’s expected family contribution (EFC) need based financial aid eligibility.
