Director, Global Clinical Affairs
Dr. Zhen Zhang is currently Director of Global Clinical Affairs at Abbott. He has extensive experience in the medical device industry. Dr. Zhang played a pivotal role in the design, execution, and analysis of a variety of clinical studies, including PROSPECT, EXCEL, SPIRIT PRIME, the ABSORB family of trials, ILUMIEN IV, and SHIELD II. Dr. Zhang has broad experience interacting with the US FDA (510(k), IDE, PMA, panel meeting) and regulatory agencies worldwide. He is currently leading the clinical programs for Abbott’s PCI Optimization portfolio, including OCT, Physiology, and PHP.
Dr. Zhang has multiple publications in top peer-reviewed journals. He has also provided regular trainings on clinical research to scientists, physicians, and regulatory agencies. He is the chair of the Section on Medical Devices and Diagnostics (SMDD) of the American Statistical Association (ASA).
Dr. Zhang holds a bachelor’s degree in Statistics from Nankai University, Tianjin, China, and a doctorate degree in Biostatistics from the University of California, Davis in Davis, California, US
