Dr. Chatzizisis is Associate Professor of Medicine, Associate Professor of Cellular and Integrative Physiology, Interventional Cardiologist, and Director of the Cardiovascular Biology and Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska. He was trained in advanced non-invasive cardiovascular imaging and in interventional cardiology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has authored more than 130 manuscripts published in Circulation, JACC, ATVB, Cardiovascular Research and Atherosclerosis among other journals. His research work has received over 5,000 citations with an H-index of 36. He has received more than 40 international and national awards, including the Young Investigators Award by European Society of Cardiology, the Young Investigators Award by European Atherosclerosis Society, the Merit Award for Young Investigators by American Heart Association and the Academy of Athens Award. He serves as Associate Editor for Atherosclerosis and Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and as manuscript reviewer for JACC, Circulation, Circulation Research, Circulation Imaging, Circulation Cardiovascular Interventions, JACC Imaging and JACC Cardiovascular Interventions among others. He is Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and European Society of Cardiology and Board Member of the European Bifurcation Club. His clinical and research interests focus on interventional cardiology, advanced non-invasive cardiovascular imaging (MRI, CT), bifurcation stenting, vascular biology of atherosclerosis, and micro- and meso-scale cardiovascular simulations.
