Numerous details are indispensable to achieve an excellent esthetic result in implant dentistry. Among them is the increasing need for bone and soft-tissue augmentation in the esthetic area in both vertical and horizontal aspects. However, these grafts can be applied at different moments of the treatment, according to the clinical situation. Immediate or delayed implant placement, socket preservation procedures and staged grafts and implant placement are the possible choices to rehabilitate the esthetic zone. Multiple adjacent missing teeth can make the surgical outcome less predictable, and the use of pink prosthesis is frequently needed. Digital planning can be used to assess the teeth positions in relation to the alveolar defect in order to achieve a prosthetically driven bone augmentation. This presentation will discuss treatment planning and timing alternatives as well as current evidence in grafting materials.
