Maribeth Lartz, Ph.D. is Professor and Coordinator of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher Preparation Program at Illinois State University (ISU). In addition to her teacher preparation responsibilities, she is also the Principal Investigator and Project Director for two, federally-funded U. S. Department of Education grants that prepare professionals in deaf education and audiology and professionals in low vision/blindness and orientation & mobility to work in early intervention with infants and toddlers who are deaf and hard of hearing and those who are low vision/blind or deaf-blind.
Prior to beginning her higher education career at Illinois State University, Dr. Lartz graduated from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with her Ph.D. in early childhood special education and the University of Texas with her B.A. and M.A. in deaf education. She taught elementary students with hearing loss in a Regional Day School program in Texas. She traces her interest and passion for deaf education to her maternal grandparents, who were both deaf.
