The Illinois Early Intervention Training Program has approved this in-person session for 0.5 hours of EI credential credit in the area of Atypical Development and 1.5 hours in the area of Intervention.
This session will explore challenging behaviors that commonly manifest in children with select genetic, psychiatric, and neurological disorders. The speaker will present a hierarchy of behavior management methods that are appropriate for students with differing levels of cognitive functioning (i.e., high-average IQ to varying levels of intellectual disability) as well as a selection of positive, proactive strategies aimed at preventing challenging behaviors.
