Dr Guitelle St.Victor was born and raised in Haiti where she completed high school and college. She travelled to France and started medical school at the University of Montpellier, then travelled to Mexico and graduated from the University of Montemorelos. She completed her residency in Adult Psychiatry at St.Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital( now Mount Sinai) in NY,NY and her fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Long Island Jewish Hospital(now LIJ Northwell) in Glen Oaks, NY.
Dr St.Victor is the 6th psychiatrist in her family, blessed with the command of four languages. She is currently working at Nassau University Medical Center as the Clinical Assistant Director of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry service and as the Clerkship Director for Psychiatry for one of the three medical schools of the Center. In December 2013, she became a “Fellow of the American Psychiatry Association”(APA) , an award given in recognition for her work and contributions to the field of Psychiatry and also became in November 2014 a “Fellow of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine(APM), now the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry”(ACLP).
She has a love for Medicine and a passion for Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and a special interest in Cultural Psychiatry and Women Mental Health. A recipient of the 2020 Nancy C.A. Roeske Award for “Excellence in Medical Student Education” by the American Psychiatric Association, she hopes to continue caring for the underserved population while teaching Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry to Consultation-Liaison fellows, Psychiatry residents, Psychology interns and medical students.
