**2019 Don R. Lipsitt Award for Achievement in Integrated and Collaborative Care**
Since the multidisciplinary team-based proactive CL model was developed at Yale in 2009 as the Behavioral Intervention Team, this model has been disseminated to more than a dozen medical centers in the US and continues to develop. In this Don Lipsitt Award workshop, Dr. Lee, the award recipient, will describe the current state of the proactive CL model with a focus on its growing adoption across the country. Dr. Lee’s transfer from Yale to the University of Rochester two years ago offered new opportunities to expand upon the proactive CL model at Strong Memorial Hospital. In collaboration with the CL psychiatry team (Drs. Richman, Oldham, and Ainsworth) at Strong, proactive psychiatry continues to be developed and implemented in novel ways. Dr. Oldham led the launch of a charter proactive CL team known as the Proactive Integration of Mental Health in Medicine (PRIME Medicine); he will describe the initial pilot data obtained and review the next phase of anticipated expansion. Dr. Richman, the director of the CL psychiatry service at Strong, will describe her efforts to develop a proactive CL service in the Wilmot Cancer Center at Strong. Dr. Ainsworth is the embedded CL psychiatrist on a 20-bed medicine unit (inpatient Medicine in Psychiatry: iMIPS). She will provide an overview of how proactive CL model has been adapted for the unique, acute medicine unit operated by Department of Psychiatry at Strong.
