This session builds on 100+ cases of citizen turn rescuer. We will present Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest from a unique perspective of the lay rescuer and narrate the challenges of stepping into action during an emergency. This will lead to a dialogue of what these rescuers had to say about their CPR training experiences and what implications it has for instructors and training organizations. Tensions will be explored around the value of public health messaging and the psychological effects of participating in resuscitation efforts. Stress inoculation through imagery and activities will be discussed as potential benefits beyond the psycho-motor skills most courses are based on.
