It will cover the foundations of planning, deployment, and follow up. Regarding planning, it will cover how to assemble a team of key stakeholders, identify resources including budget and grant funding, and evaluating and procuring equipment. Also, importantly, how to set up an infrastructure that will result in an organized roll out that protects both the public and the users of the AEDs. Regarding deployment, it will cover the basics of strategic AED placement, training the community, and raising awareness about AED locations. Regarding follow up, attendees will learn how to evaluate the success of PAD programs and set up a Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement programs for any deployments that may occur. Attendees will hear case studies of successful AED programs and how to overcome various roadblocks they may encounter along the way. The goal of the presentation is to provide specific direction and energize community champions to launch and enhance lifesaving PAD programs in their areas.
