Maxwell Meng is a Professor of Urology and Chief of Urologic Oncology at the University of California San Francisco. He graduated from Harvard College and then the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and subsequently underwent training at the University of California San Francisco. He completed his fellowship in urologic oncology at UCSF and continued there as a member of the cancer center. His clinical practice covers a broad spectrum of urologic cancers and he also directs the SUO-accredited fellowship in urologic oncology. His research interests focus on prostate (active surveillance), kidney (advanced disease), and bladder cancer (genomics, novel therapy).
He serves as an assisant editor for the Journal of Urology and on the editorial boards of BJU International, Urologic Oncology, and Bladder Cancer. He is actively involved in the American College of Surgeons, AUA, Society of Urologic Oncology, and Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. He has earned numerous teaching awards and has published over 150 articles, authored over 20 books chapters, and edited a book.
