John Stephen Lam, MD, MBA, FACS is a partner in the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. Dr. Lam graduated with Honors in Biology from the University of Michigan. He earned his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine and was chosen to participate in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Program. He subsequently completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in urology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Lam then completed a fellowship in urologic oncology accredited by the Society of Urologic Oncology and a fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive surgery both at UCLA Medical Center, where he also served as Clinical Instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine and completed a K30 Graduate Training Program in Translational Investigation. Dr. Lam received his MBA from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Lam currently serves as the Medical Staff Immediate Past-President at Kaiser Foundation Hospital-Woodland Hills and is on the Credentials and Privileges, Government Relations, Medical Executive, Surgical Performance Improvement, and Surgical Services Peer Review committees. He is a member of the SCPMG Regional Genitourinary Cancer Subcommittee and Legislative Forum. Dr. Lam holds a clinical faculty appointment at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. He is the Immediate Past-President of the Los Angeles Urological Society, Secretary/Treasurer for the California Urological Association, and a Delegate to the California Medical Association where he serves on the Council on Health Professions and Quality of Care. Dr. Lam currently serves on AUA’s Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Committee. Dr. Lam is the author or co-author of more than 150 journal publications, abstracts, and book chapters. Dr. Lam maintains a busy practice with a focus on urologic oncology and minimally invasive approaches.
