Dr. Figenshau completed residency training at Washington University School of Medicine in 1993. He was exraordinarily fortunate to be there at a time when Dr. Clayman performed the first laparoscopic nephrectomy and Dr. Catalona did the first large scale PSA screening study for prostate cancer. No urology resident has ever had better mentoring and training.
After completing residency, Dr. Figenshau stayed on at Washington University and has focused on the minimally invasive and nephron-sparing treatment of patients with renal masses. He has extensive experience in the management of patients with incidentally discovered small renal masses.
